Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Marc Possover
Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Marc Possover, MD, PhD started his medical studies at the University of Nancy, France at the age of 15 and graduated when he was 22 years old. He is certified as a Specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics, Gynecological Surgery, and Gynecological Oncology in both Switzerland and Germany. Professor Possover is currently Director of the Possover International Medical Center Zürich, Professor of Neuropelveology at the University of Aarhus, Denmark, and Associate Professor at the University of Cologne, Germany. He is also the President of the International School of Neuropelveology – www.theison.org, the leading pioneer in the use of minimally invasive surgical procedures for the treatment of gynecologic and pelvic cancer and deep infiltrating endometriosis, and the world’s leading expert in the treatment of pelvic nerve disorders.
Marc Possover is the pioneer and founder of the neuropelveology – a new branch of medicine that deals with neuropathic pelvic pain, endometriosis of the pelvic nerves and pelvic nerve dysfunctions. In addition, he has developed nerve-sparing pelvic surgical procedures as well as a procedure for laparoscopic implantation of neuroprotheses, devices designed to enable spinal cord injury victims to recover pelvic and motor functions.
Professor Possover is nationally and internationally renowned for his research and academic and clinical achievements in the fields of gynecological oncology, endometriosis surgery and neuropelveology. He has received numerous awards from the leading and most prestigious medical societies, and has written many scientific publications in medical journals in addition to contributions to numerous medical textbooks and reference books.
He is a member of several medical societies and holds important positions as an advisor and reviewer for several medical journals. Professor Possover is a board member of the European Endometriosis League and the German and Swiss Associations for Gynecologic Endoscopy (AGO) and Gynecologic Oncology (AGE). Articles about his work appear regularly in various medical journals. In addition, he is an ambassador of the World Endometriosis Society and a member of the “Leading Surgeons in the World”. Professor Marc Possover is also certified as a laparoscopic surgeon by the American Board of Gynecologic Endoscopy. He travels to many international conferences to share his knowledge about nerve-sparing surgical procedures. He is known as the founder and pioneer of neuropelveology.
